The Different Types of Electrician Specialties

Not all electricians are the same, each type specialise in different areas of the trade to cater to various electrical needs. This blog will explore the different types of electricians and what sets them apart from each other. Also, have a look at our services and see who we cater to (which is everyone!).

Residential

Residential electricians are the most commonly known type. They specialise in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in private homes. Their work includes wiring new homes, upgrading electrical panels, installing lighting fixtures, troubleshooting electrical problems, and more. Residential electricians must be well-versed in local electrical codes and safety regulations to ensure that all installations and repairs are up to standard.

Commercial

Commercial electricians focus on electrical systems in commercial buildings such as offices, retail stores, and other workplaces. Their work is typically more complex than that of residential electricians due to the larger scale and unique requirements of commercial properties. Commercial electricians are responsible for installing and maintaining electrical systems that power everything from lighting and heating to security systems and office equipment.

Industrial electricians specialise in working within industrial settings such as factories, manufacturing plants, and power plants. These electricians deal with high-voltage systems and heavy machinery. Their work involves installing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical equipment used in production processes, and all lighting solutions situated within the complex. Industrial electricians need to be familiar with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), motor controls, and industrial wiring.
